A well establish and funded European road and bridge builder new to Australia and with little experience of the Australian industrial relations environment.
The client has staffed local operations with European expats who have no experience of Australian industrial relations. Union action was putting the client at risk of defaulting on contracts with the NSW government.
Inhouse and external databases were interrogate revealing a small number of HRDs who also had industrial relations negotiation experience.
A HRD was engaged initially on a 3 month contract basis. His effectiveness in formulating a quick resolution was acknowledged and the contract was converted to a full-time position.
