Austin has extensive experience across the energy and maritime industries, including offshore oil & gas production operations, petroleum downstream and midstream asset maintenance, marine operations, and shipbuilding, spanning regions in West Africa, Europe, Middle East, and the Asia Pacific. Austin has held roles in operations, business development, contract administration, project management, general manager as well as country managing director for global companies within the floating production sector of the oil and gas industry, such as BW Offshore and Fred Olsen.

In the past five years, Austin has advised and consulted for international clients looking at doing business in challenging developing economies of West Africa with great success. With a deep understanding and expertise in regulatory compliance, national content regulations and corporate governance, and as a subject matter expert in floating productions systems, Austin has been instrumental in assisting clients in making sound investment decisions in this region.

Working with Arion Energy Services and GUS Consulting, two entities he founded, Austin led teams that provide engineering, asset integrity management, operations support, audit, inspection, human capacity development, executive search, and HR advisory services. The companies serve clients spread across oil & gas, energy, maritime and technology industries.  

Austin holds a tertiary education qualification in marine engineering and an M.Sc. in floating production technology from Strathclyde University.
